wonderful keepsakes

about 2 weeks ago i received a DVD in the mail from unk entitled "2 trips, 2 funerals." it took me about a week to get up the courage to sit down and watch it. how glad i am that i finally did. on it contained pictures and short video clips of both my mom's and dad's funeral.

i remember unk having his camera and taking pictures at both of the funerals but had no idea the extent. here is a wonderful memory of 2 very painful times in my life yet i find it comforting as well. he captured so many things, the preparation for the funerals, people gathering at my parents home after both funerals, pictures of the funeral home, the church and the weather for each. he was even able to record the playing of taps at russ' funeral.

he did a wonderful job and i will always cherish it. thanks unk. i love ya!

That's very nice to have that. I think I will recall the gathering we had after the service more than anything else. All of my cousins were there and we all agreed to have a cousins' reunion sometime. I hope we will.

Isn't it so nice when someone steps up to The Plate, and takes care of something, so important. I think I would like your UNK!

As you can imagine, I am usually the Camera Woman in my family, but when I threw Mom her 80th (was going to be a surprise) Birthday Party, I was running around, like, a chicken, missing it's head!

Anyway a dear friend of her's Husband must have taken over 100 pictures, so I was able to make an Album out of them.

I am so glad to have them, all of them, and you will be too, Nancy!

What a beautiful piece of mail you received, Nancy. Just yesterday I was going through a box of old photos and found the pictures of my dad's funeral. It's not something I would normally have taken my camera to, but I'm glad I had a reason at the time. My daughter was in the Army and was flown home for his funeral. She was in full dress blues and part of the color guard during his military send off. She was so honored, I was too, and I'm sure my dad was smiling down on her with pride.

How sweet of Unk to do that for you. I know you will treasure that always.

What a wonderful thing to have. I still look over the cards and notes I received for my dad's services. And 10 years later the tears still flow. But it feels good to see and hear the memories of him that friends and family had. This DVD will mean so much to you for the rest of your life.

Unk sure seems to know just what you need at the right time. I'm glad you have such a keepsake.

Nancy,
What a wonderful gift from unk. I too had a surprise after my Dad's burial service at Arl. Cemetery. A friend from church, who is a professional photographer came to the burial (didn't know my Dad) and took absolutely amazing pictures. Then she put them into a slide show with beautiful, appropriate music in the background.

She and Unk are some of our earthly angels who God blesses us with. How fortunate to have those angels in our lives.

And tomorrow, my friend is coming to photograph my grandson (2.5) so now we will share happy memories as well!!

Abundant blessings my friend,
Ann
